So this weekend we headed to KC for 10 hours of adoption training. It was nice because the classes were from 9-3 on Saturday and Sunday so we had Jordan come and stay with the kids and we stayed overnight in KC which was awesome because I actually got to SLEEP until 8:15 without kids running in and out of room or laying in my bed! Although I wouldn't trade those times for the world!
Anyway, there was a lot of information covered and A LOT of it was overwhelming! To be honest it was pretty scary. But I understand where they are coming from that they want everyone to go into adoption with eyes wide open. The thing that concerned us probably the most was that they had a video and they were interviewing adoptees and most of them seemed unhappy and a bit resentful to their adoptive parents. So we were just discussing, is international adoption the way to go? Should we take kids out of what they know and bring them to the US and expect them to just adjust to our lifestyle? Just somethings to think about!
But the weekend was great, we met a really nice couple who is also adopting from Ethiopia and they live close to Ozark where our family lives so maybe we can connect with them when we are in the area. There was a lot of information. And for those of you who know me well, I was totally zoning out by the 8th hour!!! You know how much I love school!:) But all in all the weekend was very informative and gave us some great things to consider and I had an AWESOME time with J! We had a lot of laughs! Have a great week. The kids are on spring break this week!
