Adoption Classes!

So this weekend we headed to KC for 10 hours of adoption training. It was nice because the classes were from 9-3 on Saturday and Sunday so we had Jordan come and stay with the kids and we stayed overnight in KC which was awesome because I actually got to SLEEP until 8:15 without kids running in and out of room or laying in my bed! Although I wouldn't trade those times for the world!

Anyway, there was a lot of information covered and A LOT of it was overwhelming! To be honest it was pretty scary. But I understand where they are coming from that they want everyone to go into adoption with eyes wide open. The thing that concerned us probably the most was that they had a video and they were interviewing adoptees and most of them seemed unhappy and a bit resentful to their adoptive parents. So we were just discussing, is international adoption the way to go? Should we take kids out of what they know and bring them to the US and expect them to just adjust to our lifestyle? Just somethings to think about!

But the weekend was great, we met a really nice couple who is also adopting from Ethiopia and they live close to Ozark where our family lives so maybe we can connect with them when we are in the area. There was a lot of information. And for those of you who know me well, I was totally zoning out by the 8th hour!!! You know how much I love school!:) But all in all the weekend was very informative and gave us some great things to consider and I had an AWESOME time with J! We had a lot of laughs! Have a great week. The kids are on spring break this week!

Concerning news

So Ethiopia issued a statement stating that parents may have to travel twice now to Ethiopia! There are so many different emails coming in, I won't bore you with the details. But the last one said that there is a one month respite until they implement this new law! So our prayer is that we would get our referral and court date during this time so we don't have to travel twice. #1 it is an added cost for families and it is not easy for both of us to take off to Ethiopia 2 times! So pray with us please! Have a great night!

On a side note, I got the cutest t-shirt in the mail I'll post a picture! It fed one child! And I love it!!!

More Fingerprints!

So today we had our fingerprints in KC for immigration. We got lost. It was pretty quick and easy and while we there we saw a couple of adults from Ethiopia, it's neat to see an adult and know that I will have a child that looks like that some day! I'm not sure what the next step is as far as immigration, but I'll ask our social worker.

We are #22 on the wait list. I have developed this mind set that I really have no expectations as to how long this will take so that way I am not disappointed! It would probably be a different story if this were my first child! But since I have 3 at home, I don't have a lot of time to sit around and be anxious about the timeline. And the Bible tells us "be anxious about nothing!" So I'll just go with the Bible!

Today was a busy day, off to KC, then a trip to the Gap! Which by the way I think I have a problem with buying kids clothes! They are just too darn cute!:) But we came home and I cleaned out all of the cubbies in the mud room, got rid of stuff that doesn't fit, cleaned out Ella's room and that room makes me not able to breathe!!! Got rid of some of her clothes and reorganized. Then I did laundry of course I don't think a day goes by that I don't do laundry, then I unloaded the dish washer, baked brownies for the teachers and then I am heading to pick the kids up and take Ella to piano! Thank the Lord for my awesome husband that is bringing me a Panera salad! He's the best!

A little side note, I have really been striving and asking the Lord to help me to live in a way that is not thinking of myself, but mindful of others. And asking Him to help me show others I care! I want to live that way. Have a great day and I'll keep you posted if we get that referral!!!
